About the role
We are seeking a talented Assistant Picture Editor to join our team on a full-time basis. Based in our Paddington office, with the flexibility of part-time remote working, you’ll collaborate with our team of two to manage and creatively direct over 600-700 photo shoots annually. This role is a blend of creative brainstorming, client interaction, and hands-on picture editing.
This role typically follows a Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM schedule, with occasional evening and weekend work based on project needs.
What you’ll be doing
- Photo Editing: Hands-on editing and finalising images, ensuring they meet high editorial standards.
- Client Interaction: Work closely with clients to understand their needs, provide feedback, and ensure their vision is realised.
- Administrative Support: Create call sheets, booking forms, handle photographers’ invoicing and participate in client meetings as needed.
- Team Collaboration: Coordinate with photographers, producers, and the broader team to deliver seamless cross-departmental projects.
- Creative Direction: Offer innovative ideas for photo shoots, tailored to client briefs.
- Image Management: Oversee the processing, backup, and delivery of all images post-shoot.
- Caption Writing: Craft accurate, engaging captions that align with media standards.
- Event Coverage: Occasionally provide on-site editing at high-profile events, including evenings and weekends.
What you’ll need
- Proven Experience: Demonstrable experience in a fast-paced news or PR environment, with a strong track record in picture editing.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Photoshop, with a solid understanding of Mac and MS Office systems.
- Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver under tight deadlines.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional focus on accuracy and quality, especially when under pressure.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in crafting editorial captions.
It would also be useful to have
- A client focus: Enthusiastic about meeting clients, working on location, and participating in events.
- Project Management skills: Capable of overseeing the entire lifecycle of a project from conception to completion.
- Commercial Awareness: Understanding of business margins and the ability to work within them.
