  • Studying a recognised sandwich undergraduate degree (or able to transfer onto one)

In the UK, Pernod Ricard is made up of 3 businesses:

  • Pernod Ricard UK, which markets, sells and distributes our products in the UK market
  • Chivas Brothers, the largest brand company in the Group, responsible for the production and management of our award-winning Scotch whisky portfolio
  • Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail, the global and EMEA home of the group’s duty free, air travel and cruises business.

We are an organisation of 2,000 employees in the UK, headquartered in London, in a brand-new office designed with sustainability, ‘conviviality’ and collaboration in mind. We also have offices in Scotland and various distilleries and production sites across the UK from Plymouth to London to Speyside.

Your new team

This position sits in our Chivas Brothers business. At Chivas Brothers, our 1,600-strong team across 27 sites is committed to upholding the heritage of Scotch and ensuring its sustainable future, as well as opening it up to new audiences across the globe.

The Strategy, Insights and Effectiveness team are looking for a Strategy Intern to work alongside them until June 2023.

Your unique contribution

Your role will be to support the strategic and business cycle with market reports, briefing documents and ad hoc analysis. Your other responsibilities include:

  • Analytical support for a number of key projects including A&P prioritisation model, portfolio and market planning / prioritisation, market sizings and segmentations
  • Lead Competitive Intelligence topics: Quarterly Competitive Updates, drive engagement with whisky watch channels, competitors benchmarking, ad hoc research
  • Support the management of our main spirits category database (IWSR) and leverage the tool for industry, competitors and brands performance assessment, market analysis and deep dives
  • Integration of consumer data (brand equity, consumer demand maps, usage and attitudinal studies) into category and market understanding
  • Ad hoc assistance on presentation preparation and analysis
  • Interact and share insights/knowledge with key stakeholders:
  • Link to global business development team in Paris and their new initiatives relating to consumer, trends and markets
  • All CBL brand teams esp’ Marketing Managers and Marketing Directors

Who you’ll be working with

Internally, you’ll work with the Strategy, Insights and Effectiveness Team

Externally, your contacts will be predominantly IWSR and other agency partners.

Your blend of talent

This position could be right for you if you have:

  • Good project management and prioritisation skills and attention to detail
  • Strong numeracy and excel skills
  • A strong market orientation with a limitless curiosity for uncovering changing market conditions, trends and environment   
  • Excellent analytical skills, including handling complex or incomplete data sources
  • Proven ability to absorb and synthesise multiple sources of insight and create and present a simple compelling picture
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to interact with stakeholders across all business and seniority levels
