    Pfizer UK Oncology has been developing collaborations with NHS organisations focusing on improving the experience of cancer patients since 2011. The team works above brand and is entirely non-promotional delivering projects in both solid tumours and blood cancers with across the UK. The Patient Experience Team also has close links with patient organisations and hosts the Oncology Business Unit’s patient engagement and involvement work.

    What can I achieve and what will I be responsible for whilst completing a placement at Pfizer?

    Working in this department you will have the opportunity to work on different stages of a project life cycles, from initial conversations with NHS stakeholders through delivery to implementation and evaluation. The work requires interaction with several internal departments and you will have the opportunity to work and potentially lead cross functional team activities.

    This work is becoming increasingly important for Pfizer, and is fully connected with the global team as well as with similar work in other markets. The role will require contact, collaboration and interaction with the The role means you will build relationships across a wide range of internal colleagues from sales and marketing, through to medical affairs and training, as well as developing relationships with our Global marketing colleagues.

    Analysis and comprehension of the UK healthcare environment is crucial as the changing face of the NHS drives the shape of cancer services, it is our role to build this dynamic environment into our strategies while ensuring that patient needs and wants are also encompassed in project outputs and outcomes.

    The role will involve liaison and collaboration with various patient advocacy groups as well as with our developing internal patient engagement and involvement structure, and ensuring the voice of the patient is properly represented in our projects is crucial.

    Typical project work will include:

    • Working on projects that explore how technology can be used to improve the experience of cancer patients
    • Working with patient groups to comprehend the needs of people with cancer
    • Working with clinical teams (specialist doctors, nurses and pharmacists) to explore ways to redesign healthcare services to improve efficiency and patient experience
    • Working on patient education and support programmes
    • Managing materials in our Global Content Management system (GCMA)

    In addition support in some marketing of non-promotional assets will be required with in turn all of the foregoing providing the opportunity to develop an understanding of the compliance and regulatory framework (ABPI code) and to interact with additional company departments dedicated to this as well as with external agencies.

    When can I start?

    Placements will start on 2nd September 2024 and will run for 12 months.

    Who can apply?
