We are based in Hertfordshire, in the town of Hoddesdon. The Hoddesdon campus, consisting of several purpose built scientific and administrative buildings together with a purpose built conference area has more than 5,000m 2 of premier R&D space and houses an established Process Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Drug Discovery team, and a newly formed Formulation Development department.
The Hoddesdon site has state-of-the-art Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard facilities for the development of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), formulation development and process chemistry. The Analytical Chemistry (AC) Team at the Hoddesdon site supports the other chemistry functions and our science partners with advanced analytical solutions that help deliver our clients’ programmes and ultimately progress medicines to the market.
Having recently undergone a period of growth and expansion with the construction of a new laboratory containing 60 fume hoods, we are looking for a Associate Laboratory Technician to support the routine activities within the laboratory and will collaborate effectively with other members of the Analytical Chemistry Department.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Analysing API’s, Intermediates, Starting Materials and Raw Materials via HPLC and other analytical methods
- Maintaining the system for ordering chemicals and consumables in the laboratory.
- Maintaining the system for monitoring the inventory and stock levels of chemicals and consumables in the laboratory.
- Checking the performance of laboratory equipment at regular intervals to demonstrate suitability for use.
- Maintaining the system for sending equipment and instruments for external calibration.
- Overseeing the waste management in the laboratory.
- Implementation of 5S sustainability on laboratory instruments and areas.
- Preparation of buffers and reagents to support analytical methods.
- Testing and release of raw materials, chemicals and solvents.
- Cleaning and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.
- Managing shipping requests.
- Adhering to safe work practices in the laboratory.
Qualification
- A level in Science (Chemistry preferred) minimum B grade
Requirements
- Good communication skills and a good work ethic.
- Basic, practical laboratory skills
