We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as an Actuarial Analyst in our With-Profits Production team in the Heritage, Financial Reporting Centre part of our business.

    Who are we

We want to be the best place that any of our 6,800 colleagues have ever worked.

We’re the UK’s largest long-term savings and retirement business. We offer our 12 million customers products across our market-leading brands, including Standard Life, SunLife and ReAssure, with c.£259 billion of assets under administration. We’re a FTSE 100 organisation that is tackling key issues such as transitioning our portfolio to net zero by 2050, and we’re not done yet.

    The role

As one of the UK’s Top Employers we’ve brought together businesses with long, successful histories and many strengths. More than ever, people need help and guidance from a company which is simple to deal with and who they trust. And that’s where you come in.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Actuarial Analyst to join our With-Profits Production team, working with actuaries and other analysts across a number of our With-Profits funds.

You may be at the start of your career, looking for a career change, or already working in a technical actuarial role and looking for a new challenge.

This is an ideal opportunity to develop and progress in a technical role whilst helping to ensure the fair treatment of our With-Profits policyholders. If you are interested in applying your analytical and communication skills to help ensure the fair treatment of customers across our 22 with-profits funds, and have excellent communication and analytical skills, this may be the job for you.

You will be responsible for providing the necessary support for the With-Profits Actuaries to carry out their duties, focusing on delivering annual bonus rates, final bonus rates, surrender value factors, market value adjustments and other technical BAU work on time and to a high standard. You will also have opportunities to contribute to project and development work.

    What are we looking for

We are looking for a numerate and analytical person, with a questioning attitude and a desire to understand what’s going on behind the numbers, and able to communicate technical messages in a way that’s easy for others to understand. You will be able to work in a team and prioritise your own work effectively. You will be familiar with Microsoft Excel, and ready to apply your skills to new challenges.

You might have a degree in actuarial science, mathematics or a related numerate discipline but this isn’t essential; all good applicants with other backgrounds will be considered on their merits.

A basic understanding of relevant actuarial technical concepts and With-Profits products would be useful, but again not essential as there will be plenty of support from your colleagues and opportunities to learn as you pick up the role.
