The Role
We are recruiting for a Portfolio Analyst to join our Asset Liability Management (ALM) team in Phoenix Asset Management.
In this role you provide quantitative modelling and management information for the ALM team to manage market and credit risks of the Phoenix investment portfolio.
You will also actively be contributing to the further development of processes and tools for ALM, by automating, simplifying and extending existing processes and support strategic initiatives with data and modelling expertise.
In your role you will collaborate closely with a range of colleagues in Phoenix Asset Management (e.g. Portfolio Managers, Middle Office, Quantitative Analysts) and in other functions, including Finance, Actuarial and IT.
Key Responsibilities
- ALM Modelling – source, validate and consolidate data for ALM modelling and reporting; perform ALM model calculations using a range of existing in-house and external tools.
- Management Information and Reporting – produce monthly reports to monitor risk and compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., Matching Adjustment portfolio tests)
- Portfolio Analysis – produce quantitative analyses to manage and hedge market and credit risk.
- Data Management – work with experts in Middle Office and Enterprise Architecture to set up appropriate data structures and processes for ALM
- Process Improvement – identify areas of simplification or automation and work with relevant experts in designing and implementing appropriate solutions making ALM processes better and more efficient
- Support Strategic Initiatives – build prototype reports and tools that can be used for testing and specification of strategic ALM solutions
What We’re Looking For
You are a numerically versed problem solver, inquisitive and proactive, with a drive to challenge and change the status quo. You do not have to be an ALM or insurance specialist, but the the role will require you to pick-up quickly key concepts in ALM and insurance balance sheet management.
The role is ideal for someone in their early career looking to consolidate their skills via hands on experience in managing and building processes, approaches and tools managing investments from an ALM perspective.
The ideal candidate is studying to towards a professional qualification in Finance, Accounting or Actuarial Sciences (e.g. CFA) and has some previous expertise working with financial data and models at a major financial institution.
