Our opportunity
We are looking to appoint a forward-thinking and driven Assistant Cost Manager for our Birmingham office. If you are looking to join a progressive company and build upon your own experience, then we want to hear from you!
You can expect to become involved in a range of exciting and challenging schemes across both the private and public sectors, with clients including schools, residential developers, retail outlets and leisure centres. Your typical duties in this role will include:
- Assist in the preparation of Cost Estimates, cost plans and tender documents.
- Carrying out arithmetical checks of calculations.
- Assisting in preparation of interim valuations of construction work for review by senior staff, including arithmetical checking
- Assisting with the general support in the cost management and financial reporting of construction projects under direction of senior staff
- Attend meetings to assist in providing QS input, review project progress and present project data.
- General administration assistance in connection with Quantity Surveying duties.
- Responsible for ensuring that they understand and comply with all Health & Safety requirements, practices and procedures
This role provides a challenging and exciting opportunity to develop within growing dynamic team, supported by expertise across our multi-disciplinary consultancy.
About you
This role will suit a Graduate who has some prior experience working on a variety of projects within the built environment. Ideally you will also have the following skills, experience and attributes:
- Relevant experience working within a similar role
- A levels - Undergraduate studying relevant degree or HNC/HND
- Relevant PC skills (Microsoft Office) with ability to develop technical skills
- General interest in construction
- NEC / JCT contract knowledge desirable
- MRICS status or working towards chartership - desirable
- A professional and compassionate attitude
- A commitment to delivering a high-quality client experience
- A team player and inquisitive nature
- Able to follow instructions and work proactively
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage time with multiple tasks
