    It is one of the biggest cheese suppliers of food manufacturing within the UK and export their product to over 55 countries worldwide. With both domestic and international business, the company continues to grow and is looking to expand their team.

    Role specific

    As a Quality Control Testing Assistant, you will be reporting to the QC Manager. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining and verifying internal checks such as incoming goods (raw materials) testing, finished product testing and product traceability.

    Responsibilities

    • Developing, maintaining and verifying internal checks such as Incoming Goods (Raw Materials) testing
    • Investigating returned products
    • Conducting and monitoring finished product testing and recording on the Cheese Testing Database
    • Developing, controlling and updating procedures in relation to cheese testing
    • Checking the Incoming Goods documentation and Certificate of Analysis for each raw material delivery and product specification
    • Scanning and maintaining paperwork
    • Organising and making the samples for UK and Export departments
    • Controlling non-conforming raw materials (quarantined product)
    • Managing the Quarantine Database
    • Dealing with any issues involving raw materials that are out of specification during delivery and communicating this with suppliers.
    • Traceability checking
    • By product control
    • Cheese waste control
    • Testing and reserving raw materials for production.
    • Reserving product for customers
    • Monitoring Supplier Performance Analysis
    • Checking and validating blend and starch checks
    • Responsible for cleaning and preparing production knives.
    • Support the QA team, if required
    • Liaise with Procurement, Quality and other departments to complete in house testing on raw materials and finished product development
    • Ensure work is carried out in a timely manner with deadlines and targets met at all times.
    • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Quality Control Manager or Quality Control Coordinator

    What are we looking for?

    A degree in Food Science & Nutrition is desirable. The successful candidate will be a confident team player and contribute effectively to the Quality Control department.

    • Good communication skills.
    • Experience in a food factory environment with an understanding of quality, food safety and new product development
    • Organised.
    • Detail orientated and high levels of accuracy.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    • Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
    • Team player.
    • Good IT skills.
    • Degree in Food Science & Nutrition is desirable.

    Shift pattern

    • 40 hours per week, rotating days and backs each week.
    • Day shift – 06:00-14:00
    • Back shift – Mon 13:00-22:00 / Tues 14:00-22:00 / Wed 13:00-22:00 / Thurs 14:00-22:00 / Fri 13:00-19:00
