    What You Need to Know

    We are looking for a Graduate or Trainee Mechanical Engineer to join our team, based at Beacon Park, Great Yarmouth. You will join a highly respected and experienced team who will help you kick start your engineering journey with Proserv!

    Our Engineering Department is engaged in the design of industrial control systems for the oil & gas, telemetry, and renewable energy sectors. Upon joining us, you will have exposure to the key aspects of the products and services the team design and support. On assignment of product or project-based tasks, you will work with colleagues to design and implement the mechanical aspects of the control systems, comprising hydraulic, pneumatic, instrumentation and all associated documentation.

    Personal development will be through a combination of training, practical experience, mentoring and self-learning. Opportunities will be provided to develop base engineering knowledge into a technical understanding of industrial control systems. Involvement supporting other company functions and Proserv’s customers is a key aspect to the role which may on occasions require domestic or international travel.

    • Ensure the timely delivery of the agreed scopes of supply
    • Work within a team to ensure the highest quality, performance and safety of supplied solutions
    • Generate documentation to allow design, procurement, manufacture, test, installation, operation & maintenance
    • Carry out engineering calculations to confirm that designs meet required specifications
    • Compliance of deliverables with company QA/QC requirements
    • Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management
    • The majority of the work to be undertaken will be at the Great Yarmouth facility. However, occasions may require site working (commissioning, testing or support) both in the UK and overseas.
    • Good level of personal fitness to enable job holder to maintain offshore survival certificate in addition to a valid UK driving license and passport.

    Education

    Required

    • Engineering qualification at degree (BEng) level, or
    • BTEC qualification in an Engineering or Energy subject with related experience.

    Preferred

    • Engineering qualification at masters (Meng) level.
    • Experience of work placement in an Engineering or Energy company.

    • Knowledge of energy industry (renewables or oil & gas)
    • Understanding of basic mechanical and hydraulic control systems.
    • Understanding of control system design, build or equipment concepts.
    • Familiarity with hydraulic / pneumatic control systems and their components.
    • Ability to understand fluid dynamics and structural calculations.
    • Understanding of CAD systems e.g. Solidworks or Autodesk products.
    • Understanding of computer based calculations and analysis software i.e. Mathcad, CS8.
    • Understanding of ERP systems.
    • Knowledge of materials and their properties.
    • Knowledge of design/manufacture of ATEX / PED rated equipment.
