    The role

    We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Operations Data Analyst to join our central data team. This role will focus on developing the in-house technology for the head office and the At-Need business to facilitate and drive business change by enhancing automation, control and reporting to key decision makers.

     Key responsibilities

    • Develop SQL and Tabular data models and KPIs that reflect operational efficiency, service quality, and controls.
    • Create and maintain performance dashboards and operational reports using advanced SQL, Power BI and DAX. Design and optimise database tables, stored procedures, and views; implement covering indexes to improve performance.
    • Understand the business processes and collaborate with Head office teams, including Finance, Customer Complaints and Compliance, to identify opportunities to automate recurring tasks, reduce manual intervention, increase data accuracy and provide valuable insights to decision makers.
    • Work with the internal functions to manage and, where applicable, challenge business priorities and demands to ensure appropriate delivery
    • Active member of change forums to facilitate smooth system enhancements and changes by identifying and mitigating potential changes which may impact end users.
    • Ensure database integrity through data modelling best practices, including third normal form (3NF) where applicable.
    • Query relational databases to extract and transform operational and financial data for analysis.
    • Contribute to the team’s development of data science and machine learning capabilities by supporting model development, feature engineering, and performance monitoring.
    • Support data-led decision-making across Operations and Head Office teams through detailed, actionable insights.
    • Proactively identify and communicate operational performance trends, risks, and opportunities through presentations and visualisations
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of business processes and reporting frameworks.
    • Maintain documentation of all automated processes and dashboards to ensure maintainability and clarity.

    Skills

    Essential

    • A degree in a STEM-related subject, or equivalent work experience.
    • Proven experience as a data analyst, preferably in an operational or service-led business environment.
    • Proficiency with SQL for querying and building relational databases.
    • Strong experience using Power BI (or equivalent) to build performance dashboards and automate reporting.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
    • Effective communication skills, capable of translating complex data into meaningful insights.
    • Comfortable working collaboratively across departments with varying levels of data literacy.
    • Experience with Python for automation and data processing tasks.

    Desirable

    • Experience working with Finance teams or in financial analysis contexts.
    • Understanding of operational KPIs, workflow optimisation, and service delivery metrics.
    • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure SQL.
