    This is a new, permanent role where you will join our early careers community (they’re a great network!) and be enrolled onto our 2-year professional apprenticeship programme; upon successful completion you will achieve a qualification specific to the business area you apply to.  

     

    ESG Risk Analyst 

     

    The Opportunity 

     

    QBE International are looking to recruit an ESG Risk analyst to join a well-established and successful Risk Management team. As part of the European Operations Risk Management team, you will assist in addressing ESG data and risk topics across multiple business functions and stakeholders. You will help drive organisational changes to further integrate ESG data, tools, and risk insights into our business operations.   

     

    Your new role  

    • Support on the implementation of ESG risk strategy, to maximize business benefits and efficiencies.  
    • Ensure that relevant data and analysis e.g., of climate change risks and opportunities, is supplied to the EO ESG and Financial risks team on a timely basis to enable a reasonable view of these risks to be formed, to consider appropriate business recommendations and to facilitate appropriate actions to be taken.  
    • Ensure that material ESG risks to EO’s business objectives, e.g., relating to sustainability strategy, are identified, assessed, managed, and reports prepared for review for the appropriate governance groups.  
    • Ensure through collaboration with other functions compliance with existing and emerging regulatory and internal requirements applicable to these risks. 
    • Support developing and implementing the documentation and framework for managing ESG risks, including but not limited to Environmental; Human Rights and Modern Slavery; and data relevant for QBE’s Environmental & Social Risks Framework, and nature-based risks and opportunities.  
    • Address adequacy of controls and risk mitigation strategies for these risks, to ensure they can be managed effectively if they materialise.  
    • Facilitate effective planning, development of risk and control framework and emerging ESG risks.  
    • Build and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships to identify opportunities to improve management of these risks. 

     

    About you  

    • Bachelor’s degree in a technical subject, preferred but not essential
    • Have an interest and passion for ESG and sustainability-related matters, with a curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring how data and analytics can assist in further developments on ESG risks and opportunities. 
    • Good level of understanding of the relevant environmental, social and governance issues that impact the insurance industry.   
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.   
    • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoints.  
    • Ability to identify problems and self-identify solutions.
