This is a new, permanent role where you will join our early careers community (they’re a great network!) and be enrolled onto our 2-year professional apprenticeship programme; upon successful completion you will achieve a qualification specific to the business area you apply to.
Legal and Governance Analyst
The Opportunity
QBE Europe’s London office is recruiting a Legal and Governance Analyst to join a well-established Legal and Company Secretarial/Governance team. In this role you will play a part in integrating ESG principles and knowledge into the legal team and our broader governance framework. More broadly, in this role you will contribute to legal compliance, stakeholder engagement, governance, and sustainable business practices. You will gain exposure to many wider areas of legal, governance operational and administrative work within a busy legal team.
Your New Role
ESG Integration:
- Support legal and governance teams in ESG matters, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Continuously conduct horizon scanning and learning initiatives to keep the team informed about legal and regulatory developments in the rapidly evolving ESG area.
Corporate Governance:
- Support the Company Secretary in maintaining accurate records of the ESG Management Group meetings and broader governance-related tasks.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand their ESG expectations and concerns.
- Collaborate with external panel firms to strategically coordinate and implement ESG-focused training programs for the Legal and Company Secretarial team and the broader business.
Legal:
- Stay abreast of evolving ESG and broader regulations and reporting standards, supporting in the provision of legal support in ensuring the company's compliance.
- Assist in conducting legal research on ESG-related matters and other legal topics and prepare reports for internal use.
- Provide feedback and insights to the Legal & Company Secretarial team and the wider business, offering analysis on ESG matters, helping to ensure alignment with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Work more broadly with the Legal team in other legal matters and projects, providing support across a broad range of topics including legal research and review of legal documentation.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sustainability, finance, and risk management, to ensure cohesive and integrated ESG initiatives.
- Support legal team members in various wider legal matters as required.
- Support team members in various tasks for Company Secretarial and Legal Operations
About You
- Bachelor’s degree within Law, Business, Governance, or a related field.
- Passion for Law and ESG principles and a strong understanding of the importance of corporate governance.
- Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and apply legal concepts.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with stakeholders at various levels.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
- Strong organisational skills and an excellent multi-tasker
