We are always looking for great people to join our team, whether you are taking your first steps in starting a career or you are looking to make a career change, we have a wide range of exciting opportunities for you.

About the team - Chemistry (Atmospheres)

Chemistry (Atmospheres) is team of six chemists that is part of the Maritime Life Support group, based at QinetiQ Haslar. The team provides air purification and atmosphere monitoring support to the Ministry of Defence (MOD), overseas navies and commercial organisations that operate in challenging enclosed environments such as submarines, ships and armoured fighting vehicles. Our work includes projects targeted at current issues within atmosphere monitoring and control, and novel research to expand future capabilities in the field.  Alongside the research programmes we also conduct independent evaluations of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf monitors for the MOD, and we are the Royal Navy’s installation specialists for the current submarine Central Atmosphere Monitoring System (CAMS). We also support future submarine design through the use of our proprietary BREATH computer software, which allows the modelling of contaminant gases within enclosed volumes. Our off-site trials teams use their expertise in gas monitoring to support live fire exercises held on QinetiQ’s many ranges.
