The School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences (MDBS) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Assistant within the Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research.
The role
The successful candidate will be an active member of the research project/team assisting in the planning and delivery of research activity within a specified area so that the overall research objectives of the project are met.
The successful candidate will undertake and deliver of research activities with dry-lab based investigations aiming to investigate prognostic/predictive biomarkers in colorectal cancer.
The project will involve the analysis of tissues microarray for protein/mRNA markers, correlation with other genetic biomarkers and survival of colorectal cancer patients, using material of pan-EU study. This is a well delignated project involving writing up of data in manuscript at end of the project.
The research assistant will work as part of an interdisciplinary, cross border team in collaboration with Paris Descartes (Paris).
About you
The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:
- Degree or equivalent in subject relevant to research activity, e.g. cancer biology, pathology
- Relevant laboratory experience (e.g. molecular biology, pathology)
- Experience in good laboratory practice (GLP) environment.
- Sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within CRC research.
This post is fixed term for 12 months. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
