As a Graduate Consultant, you will play an important part in one of the world’s leading environmental and health consultancies. We are trusted by our clients to manage their most challenging environmental, health and social issues. We help clients understand and manage the impacts of their activities, projects and products, so that they can respond to environmental, business, regulatory or legal challenges effectively and develop sound strategies for operating sustainably.
You will be part of our established and very successful UK Environment & Health team, getting involved with a diverse range of desk-based and site-based work. Previous education will be an important foundation, but your willingness to learn new environmental concepts and pick up new working practices quickly will really make the difference. Role description
We invite you to bring your strong desire to make meaningful, positive change and your passion for nature conservation into play in our Ecosystems Solutions Service Line. As a Graduate Nature Positive Consultant you can be based at any of our UK office locations. Depending on the role, you would undertake ecological surveys and produce high quality reports including habitat and species surveys, support the delivery of a range of biodiversity project work, alongside our Ecology, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and Marine Biology specialists or support the delivery of a range of project work with a broad environmental and sustainability remit founded in biology and ecosystems knowledge.
To succeed in this role, you must be willing to develop your ecological or conservation skills to assist in more complex work or to develop skills as part of our team delivering environmental net gain, biodiversity and natural capital, and nature-based solutions. You would ideally be a Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management or be eligible to qualify for membership at the appropriate grade. Nature Positive consultants would support with Corporate Biodiversity strategy and alignment with legal and voluntary requirements.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Undertake metric based biodiversity assessments to support Biodiversity Net Gain
- Supporting the Global Biodiversity team with Science Based Targets for Nature (SBTN) and Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) deliverables
- Support the team with Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) assessments
The key deliverables for this role over the first 12-24 Months will be:
- Biodiversity Net Gain assessment
- Input into biodiversity centred development designs
- Assist the team with SBTN, TNFD and CSRD reporting
Your skills and experience
We believe your starting point for this role is a Bachelors or Masters’ level qualification in one or more of the following subjects:
- Biology, Ecology, Environmental Biology, Conservation Biology, Marine Biology, Aquatic Ecology, Ecosystem Services, Natural Capital or Ecological Economics
Additionally, we would expect you to:
- Have experience with IT packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
- Be numerically competent;
- Possess excellent English communication skills, both oral and written;
- Have excellent report writing skills; and
- Hold a full clean driving licence (by the point of employment)
We don’t expect you to know everything, but that you show curiosity, take responsibility, and want to deliver high-quality work.
