At the Plymouth location we design and manufacture products for control, navigation and guidance for surface and air applications in the global aerospace and defence markets. Our world leading products include the innovative MEMS based IMUs and the digital terrain reference navigation system, TERPROM®.
To support our existing business and enable future growth we are seeking an Industrial Placement student to join our Prototype Engineering team on a 12-month placement commencing in Sept 23.
Primary Responsibilities
- To gain an underlying knowledge of business processes and the product lifecycle
- Learn and apply the technology used in our inertial products
- Research and understanding how our current gyroscopes and accelerometers work
- Support the design, development and testing of pre-production products
- Produce documentation as directed
- Configure new hardware designs
- Build prototype electronic circuits
- Present new designs and ideas to design authorities
Skills and Experience
- Self-motivated, diligent and excited by STEM subjects
- You will either have recently completed A levels (or equivalent level) in STEM related subjects or be working towards qualification to degree level in an Engineering discipline, Mathematics or other closely related discipline
- A keen interest in product development within military or civil aerospace
- Competent in technical report writing and presentations
- A team player and effective communicator
- Able to multi-task and prioritize own work
