Redburn offers summer internships in our London office, within our Equity Research, Sales and Execution teams.  These are paid, eight-week opportunities during July and August.

Redburn’s internship programme is demanding but fun, and will provide you with a comprehensive overview of Redburn’s business, as well as a broad introduction to the financial markets. You will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most talented individuals in their field, gaining some fantastic hands-on experience. Redburn can also give you invaluable exposure to senior managers and promises to provide open and honest career advice throughout the internship with the company.

Redburn’s equity research analysts and salespeople advise professional investors (our clients) on European equities. Our sales traders and execution teams transact our clients’ business, and Redburn’s expert access team links investors to Redburn’s network of industry executives and independent experts.

Research

An equity research analyst provides industrial insight and analysis into a company or sector. Our analysts produce detailed arguments for buying or selling the equity of a company. Redburn’s analysts and salespeople then debate the buy/sell case with our clients, often in face-to-face meetings.

Typically, an equity research department is split into different coverage groups that each focus on a specific sector. Redburn has over 60 analysts, based in London, working across a total of 18 research sectors, and in the quantitative and technical analysis teams.

Sales

Redburn’s salespeople market and distribute all Redburn research – fundamental analysis, Redburn’s quantitative product, economic and macro thought leadership, technical analysis and income screening – to professional investors.

Critically, a salesperson must be an expert in both the market and Redburn’s products, as well as knowing each client’s investment style, altering content appropriately and dispensing advice according to clients’ individual criteria. To be effective account managers, salespeople need to become their clients’ go-to contact by matching client needs and styles of investing with Redburn’s expertise.

Execution

Execution encompasses a number of different roles that interact closely with each other but have their own disciplines and specialisms.

Our sales traders are focused on providing market insight, news flow and promoting Redburn product, tailored to individual client requirements. Redburn’s sales traders work on behalf of our clients alongside the rest of the execution team to deliver excellence.

Technology plays a big part in the execution landscape and Redburn’s algorithmic team service specific client requirements.

Underpinning each of the roles is the need for high levels of communication, accuracy, relationship building and teamwork. Redburn executes in European and US equities for institutional clients.
