    Our animation department at Redefine Originals provides cutting-edge services to clients and helps them return film to its roots, being able to see what is being filmed as it happens.

    Utilising Unreal Engine in animation is quickly becoming adopted by the industry due to its vast benefits of a more interactive workflow and ability to visualise things in a naturalistic way.

    The Role

    As a UE TD in our Unreal Engine team,  you will be working closely with our team of modellers and textures artists within the Build Team, as well as lighters, to produce show specific assets, pipeline tools.

    All assets created will support the workflow requirements to aid the smooth running of production so it is important you have the ability to create tools that iare simple, elegant and efficient.

    You will need to be organised, proactive and a self-starting individual. You will be a team-player that can communicate effectively with the team in an approachable and personable manner. You will be calm under pressure and committed to meeting tight deadlines with a positive, can-do attitude.

    As well as being technically proficient in multiple software and helping to maintain folder management and the pipeline, this role will require you to communicate with the in-house Unreal team and extended support teams in London and India.

    You will bring technical skills to help drive the efficiency of our current and upcoming shows. You will also be building and maintaining a Pipeline that is scalable.

    Requirements

    Must Have

    • Should be able to help build pipeline tools for Unreal.
    • Knowledge of coding with C++, Python.
    • Experience creating Blueprints
    • Graduate level or a diploma in CG/Unreal courses and have some working knowledge in industry utilising Unreal Engine developing pipeline tools for Maya and Unreal.
    • Solid understanding of workflows inside UE4 and UE5, including knowledge of lighting, post-processes, material setup and optimization.
    • Knowledge of sequencer, Movie render Que.
    • An understanding of unreal workflow pipeline as a whole and experience working collaboratively with other departments
    • An understanding of rendering efficiency within Unreal.

    Nice to Have

    • Knowledge of PerForce.
    • Good 3D generalist skill set/attitude.
    • A good understanding of Colour/Grading/Lighting.
    • Knowledge of shading in Unreal.
    • Lighting (path tracing/ray tracing in Unreal Engine) and shot-based lighting.
    • Knowledge of the baked and dynamic lighting solutions in Unreal.direct & indirect
    • Experience in shading fur and hair in UE and Xgen.

    About You

    • Strong communication skills, including but not limited to, email, database tracking, understanding and interpreting creative notes.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot In-engine and with hardware Calm under pressure and proficient at working to deadlines.
    • Efficient, reliable, self-motivated and passionate about your work, requiring minimal supervision due to having a strong artistic sense and being a good multitasker.
