    The role

    As the Graduate Condition Monitoring and Performance Engineer you will provide engineering expertise to the O&M and Asset Management teams informing on the condition of the operating plant, mainly focused on wind assets, to enable effective plant maintenance to minimise cost and lost production. This is a specialist role involving analysis of operational and condition data to provide the best diagnosis and prognosis for the operational plant, ensuring highest revenue and profit for clients.

    Organisational Context

    Reporting to the Lead Reliability Engineer, you will work within the Analysis and Optimisation team as part of the Support Services business unit in close cooperation with the Asset Management, Site and Operational teams. They will provide expertise and knowledge to assist with effective operation and maintenance of operational plant such as wind, solar and energy storage, working closely with O&M providers, internal support teams and asset owners.

    Key accountabilities

    • Conduct monitoring, analysis and reporting of the generating assets using several techniques (vibration, electrical, fluid, SCADA data, inspection)
    • Diagnose issues with performance and developing failures and provide appropriate engineering recommendations for minimising cost and lost production
    • Diagnose and propose solutions for performance issues with the generating plant
    • Provide technical and engineering support to operational wind farm management teams
    • Work with other team members to develop diagnosis algorithms and methods to detect different failure modes associated with generating plant
    • Record value-add to RES and the client from the delivery of the service to inform on investment decisions, demonstrate value, retain focus on the most appropriate methods, improve accuracy, focus on upscaling and reduce cost
    • Research, evaluate and recommend new and improved methods for both condition monitoring and reliability of generating plant with a view on advising best practice for RES and its clients
    • Evaluate the methods, software and platforms used for fleet analysis, storage of data etc. and provide advice for improvements, investment and increased data security
    • Support life extension and end of warranty inspection campaigns

    About you

    Knowledge

    • Technical knowledge and understanding of rotating machinery such as gearboxes, generators, and bearings.
    • Some familiarity with condition monitoring, vibration analysis and signal processing

    • Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail and analytical skills
    • Ability to manage several projects and high workloads with demanding timescales

    • Excellent communication skills allowing effective discussion and transfer of information between areas of the business and turbine manufacturers or site teams
    • Strong reporting and presentation skills and proficiency in using Microsoft Office packages

    Desired

    • Data mining and programming in languages including SQL & Python

    Experience

    • Experience with Data Analysis and/or Data Science
    • Some experience of continuous improvement and engineering model development

    Desired

    • Experience in or detailed knowledge of wind turbine design, including design for reliability
    • Previous experience in renewable is preferred.
