    We are seeking a self-motivated graduate engineer to join our consultancy team as an Analyst Consultant within our Waste and Resource Management Business Area. From day one, you’ll be part of a team supporting senior consultants in delivering projects to our clients. The successful applicant will have strong numeracy and analytical skills gained from an engineering, environmental or scientific background, together with a proactive, organised approach and a pride in the quality of their work. We expect applicants to have, or be keen to develop, technical expertise in the waste management industry, and will encourage this through project involvement and development.

    As an Analyst Consultant, you’ll produce research and analysis that underpins our consultancy work. You will manage your time across several projects, contributing in all phases - from supporting the preparation of proposals to win new contracts, through researching and analysing information and data, to contributing to reports that are delivered to clients. You will be responsible for the quality and delivery of your work, and liaise with other consultants to incorporate your contribution into wider project outputs.

    Our team provides strategic advice through waste composition analysis, policy support, waste strategy development, service design and delivery, helping to create the business case for service change, defining data requirements and collection methodologies, modelling and benchmarking the performance of waste collection and treatment systems across the UK and the ROW.

    Our focus is on helping clients to solve problems and developing their capabilities to continue beyond the end of our commission. We continue to help our clients achieve substantial savings and balance environmental, social and economic pressures whether it be on-site or in the board room.

    Person specification

    The Successful candidates must have the following:

    • A Bachelors, Masters or PhD in an engineering or scientific subject.
    • A high level of numeracy and a talent for numerical analysis.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Strong PC literacy – especially in MS Excel and Word.
    • Be flexible, resilient and enthusiastic.
    • Be able to work independently and demonstrate initiative, as well as operate effectively as part of a team.

    Competencies and experience

    • Comfortable developing, using and reviewing technical data and models, predominantly in Excel and or Python i.e. mass and energy balances, option analysis/costing, etc
    • Must be able to conduct appropriately referenced research with minimal guidance, and arrive at well-reasoned conclusions from its analysis.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team in delivering high quality work.
    • High attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
    • Good time management.
    • Ability to meet multiple deadlines.
    • Ability to interpret complex issues and data, and identify solutions quickly.
    • Ability to write clear, concise and accurate technical reports.
    • Ability to travel outside of the UK especially to the Middle East.
    • Full UK driving licence.

    Desirable skills and behaviours

    • Knowledgeable about the UK waste market and the key players, service models and technologies.
    • An ability to process and understand large data sets to enable it’s use as part of a project / model.
    • Project/task management to ensure clients’ needs are met.
