    We have a new position available for a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer - Hydrogeology to join our specialist ground engineering team in Huddersfield.

    This is a great opportunity to join a welcoming and fun team which is led by the UK leading specialist on dewatering and groundwater, Dr Martin Preene. The team provides consulting and design services to clients in temporary works groundwater control, dewatering and temporary works for major construction projects.

    You’ll be required to work on a range of major infrastructure projects that will expose you to a variety of challenges. As part of this, you’ll assist in the delivery of project-related tasks to meet budget, timeframe and quality targets as well as working as part of wider project teams undertaking desk studies, site surveys and assisting with the delivery of technical assessments and reports.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Undertake research and investigations to develop a clear understanding of the ground conditions at a project site.
    • Plan, specify and manage site investigations and laboratory testing programmes.
    • Collate and analyse field and laboratory data and undertake analyses related to the project design.
    • Liaise with Richter engineers, clients and other engineers to develop project specific solutions.
    • Prepare drawings and detailed geotechnical reports.
    • Work within the design team under the direction of colleagues.
    • Learn and behave in accordance with company values and corporate standards.
    • Learn and work in accordance with company procedures.
    • Communicate openly with other members of the design team.
    • Develop academic skills by recognising their application to design tasks.
    • Recognise the skills and experience of other design team members, and be ready to learn.
    • Attend sites and project where required to assist with site inspections and surveys.
    • Recognise the commercial requirements of projects and the company as a whole.
    • Ensure your work is carried out efficiently and effectively.

    About You

    Essential Criteria

    • MEng/MSc degree in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydrology or related subject.
    • Good level of computer literacy including MS Office.
    • A knowledge of the typical ground conditions and geology of the United Kingdom.
    • A knowledge of industry standard geotechnical software including CAD systems.
    • The ability to anticipate and interpret ground conditions and to develop accurate ground models from site investigation and desk study information.
    • Good verbal and written English.
