RINA is currently recruiting for a Power Earthing & Lightning Protection Graduate to join its office in Pontyclun within the Green Energy Solutions Division.
Overview
The Graduate Electrical Engineer works within the Power/Earthing & Lightning Protection Unit and reports to the Head of Earthing & Lightning Protection.
The role will be based at the office near Cardiff (Pontyclun), this role will involve frequent travel to client substation locations throughout the UK. You will find yourself working on a range of Earthing & Lightning Protection projects including site-based inspections and office-based design and reporting.
You can expect variety and travel and will be working in a team of highly skilled Consultants who will be supporting you as you develop your skills with RINA.

Job Responsibilities
Developing the necessary skills to undertake:
- Site based electrical testing and inspection of earthing systems at substations, power stations, renewable energy projects, etc.
- Analysis of data gathered on site.
- Design of earthing systems for new HV infrastructure projects.
- Computer simulation of earthing systems and completion of safety assessments.
- Dealing with RINA clients to request technical input data, communicate outputs and resolve queries.
- Preparation of reports to required quality standards.
Qualifications
Essential
- A Graduate with a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Electrical Engineering, although other engineering disciplines will be considered
- Able and willing to attend client sites at various locations around the UK to perform physical demanding earth testing work
- Willing to stay away from home for short periods, e.g. 2 to 4 nights per week, while carrying out site testing and undertaking electrical measurements and assessments.
- Self-motivated and organised, with excellent attention to details, driven to make a difference, you’ll be confident in your abilities, ready to use your initiative and work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
- A keen problem solver with an analytical mind which you use to promote innovative ideas and thinking
- Excellent communication skills to successfully liaise with colleagues and clients, and good team working skills
- A competent writer able to accurately assemble written and numerical data into presentations and reports
- Client focussed, keen to understand more about us, our customers and ready to develop your commercial knowledge
Desirable
- Use of AutoCAD or other CAD software would be desirable #LI-CB2
