We are looking for a talented engineer who is passionate about the Nuclear Industry and driven to work and learn valuable engineering skills. This position is for a graduate-level Engineer to work as part of a team of engineers/consultants providing support to UK Nuclear Power Stations.

The role

The successful applicant will be based in our Warrington office and will support our existing site-based Engineering Support Teams (EST) for a major nuclear client throughout their UK Nuclear Power Station fleet. You will be mentored and managed by experienced Risktec staff engineers and become part of an energetic expanding team, you will be expected to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues on multiple projects in a supportive, progressive environment.

The core role is to support the Equipment Reliability programme which will involve the following:

  • Ensuring that risk is managed throughout station processes and that quality is maintained through all aspects of the engineering process.
  • Review of equipment reliability to confirm that the plant systems and equipment will fulfil their Nuclear Safety and non-Nuclear Safety functions safely and reliably, and to plan appropriate actions where performance gaps are identified.
  • Liaising with Engineers at UK Nuclear Power Stations.
  • Attending site visits

The following key skills are required to undertake the role in support of the Equipment Reliability programme:

  • Written communication skills.
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Clear, concise communication liaising with site-based engineers.
  • Analysis and management of large datasets with the ability to develop conclusions based on analysis of data.

In addition to the core role, there will be opportunities outside of this to support a variety of challenging projects for this client and others within the nuclear industry, but also across other sectors if desired.

Disciplines considered

We will consider engineers who are graduating, or have graduated in the following disciplines at a minimum BEng or BSc level;

  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
  • Control and Instrumentation (C&I).
  • Mechanical Engineering.
  • Chemical Engineering.

STEM graduates with relevant knowledge, including Nuclear Operations/Engineering will also be considered.
Engineers who are due to graduate, and Engineers who have been graduated for over 1 year and have relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.

Security Clearance Checks

Due to the nature of the work, the candidate must have a suitable background that will allow them to achieve UK security clearance (please note that this is very difficult to achieve within the timescales for non-UK nationals, and you will be subject to a screening process prior to the interview to ensure that you meet the security clearance criteria).
