We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Intelligence Officer to join our Trading Standards team. Are you interested in a career in consumer protection, regulation and enforcement? We are looking for an enthusiastic apprentice who is ready to work in a dynamic and fast paced team.
Rochdale Trading Standards already enforces a wide range of regulations, including product safety, intellectual property, food standards and animal health, and is responsible for promoting business compliance, consumer protection and public safety.
However, in relation to tobacco and vapes, we are going to be getting a whole lot busier due to the introduction of new legislation. The government is funding the recruitment and training of new apprentices to enforce the forthcoming legislation as well as the full range of Trading Standards duties.
The role
The role will include assisting with the review and inputting of complaints and intelligence, undertaking compliance checks, assisting with the seizure of non-compliant goods, issuing advice to businesses, taking statements, interviewing traders and helping with criminal investigations.
The successful candidate will be provided with plenty of support but will be expected to manage their own workload on a day-to-day basis with limited supervision.
This post is fully funded by the Department of Health and Social Care until 31st March 2029. You will focus on tackling illegal and underage sales as well as supporting businesses to achieve compliance across a vast range of tobacco and vapes regulations designed to protect consumers and in particular children, while at the same time, working to gain a Level 6 professional qualification, across all areas of Trading Standards activity.
You will be based within purpose built, award winning accommodation in Rochdale town centre, which is currently undergoing multi million pound regeneration.
