    These positions are located in BioX, a department within the pRED function which translates world-class science into medical innovation through a diversity of technologies and talent located across research & development sites worldwide. We deliver on individual patient needs through a deep understanding of disease biology and the implementation of Personalized Healthcare strategies.

    During the placement, you will be based at the Welwyn Garden City, UK site in a non-laboratory based scientific position.

    Job Mission

    We are offering an outstanding opportunity to two Industrial Placement students to work with multidisciplinary teams of operational experts and technical scientists dedicated to support the clinical development and execution of BioX (biosample, biomarker and bioanalytics) strategies to translate biosamples into medicines across our worldwide early phase clinical studies.

    Each successful candidate will receive full training in relevant business processes, systems, software and programming for each role, and will be supported by experienced employees that will provide coaching, mentoring and oversight on a day-to-day basis.

    Your Impact

    Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

    • Communicate with internal / external stakeholders, participate in stakeholder and vendor (laboratories) meetings, support central laboratory meetings, China colleagues and any subsequent face to face meetings in collaboration with BioX (biosamples, biomarkers and bioanalytics).
    • Oversee the maintenance and application of different internal tools and platforms that support both biosample management and bioanalytical activities and the BioX Chapters and community.
    • Support and assist in day to day biosample operational and bioanalytical activities that the Biosample Operations Specialists and Bioanalytical Managers undertake with their clinical projects and studies. These can include but are not limited to participating in the review of the clinical project and study biosample specific metrics, laboratory vendor selections based on specific technology and collaborating across the early and late stage clinical development for bioanalytical measurements as well as study specific financial management.
    • Contribute to activities that expand across the entire biosample lifecycle from the BioX strategy through to patient sample collection, sample analysis, data reporting and sample storage.
    • Support the development, maintenance and oversight of appropriate biosample management documentation, provision of critical reagents, their associated Certificates of analysis, and monitoring of reagent consumption.
    • Collaborate with the Biosample Operations Specialist on innovative and functional initiatives.
    • Optionally be able to contribute to Welwyn site-wide events and projects (e.g Wellbeing, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion).

    Your Profile

    You should be an undergraduate in your second year of your Bachelor’s degree. We are looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic, inclusive environment which gives you full accountability for your

    own contributions and development. You are interested in operationalising clinical trial patient biosample collection and analysis that delivers data to drive decision making. You are resourceful and flexible in problem solving and working in a collaborative and inclusive manner. You have a sense for ensuring that everyone has the required information at all times.

Your skillset and experience allows you to be a professional, reliable and team-oriented employee. You are knowledgeable of your strengths and development areas.
