    An exciting opportunity for a Development Engineer has arisen within our Defence Future Programmes team. The current PTMS team is largely made up of Thermofluids Engineers and Performance Engineers, but as we seek to move the technology up through the Technology Readiness Levels, we need someone with strong design experience to work alongside the current TMS focal point to help turn the functional concepts into physical reality.

    As a Development Engineer, you will be directly supporting the development and integration of power and thermal management technologies and systems. As well as supporting the commissioning of a brand-new test facility.

    What you will be doing:

    • Apply systems thinking and engineering knowledge to define & manage product verification strategies
    • Plan and integrate with engineering teams to execute verification work
    • Oversee verification work to meet programme milestones including supporting engine test activities associated with required verification activities
    • Identify and mitigate technical risks and resolve technical issues
    • Complete work to the relevant Quality processes

    Who we’re looking for:

    • You will be educated to degree level in a STEM subject and/ or have experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Controls). Other qualifications, in combination with relevant experience, may also be considered.
    • You will also be a Chartered Engineer or hold an affiliate / associate membership of a relevant professional body or be working towards Chartered/Incorporated status
    • A broad understanding of Gas Turbine physical and functional characteristics would be advantageous.
    • Experience in developing and implementing Verification strategies to meet product requirement
    • A good technical understanding of high integrity thermal and/or electronic systems.
