A great opportunity has arisen for a Lab Technician/Chemistry Technician to join Rolls-Royce Submarines in Thurso, Scotland.
The Laboratory Technician will join a small team of chemists and support testing, analysis and reporting in the support of the full product life-cycle.

The Submarines sector of Rolls-Royce has been providing power systems expertise to the Royal Navy’s fleet of nuclear-powered submarines since the early 1960’s. At the Vulcan site we have been leading the way by operating full-scale prototypes of the Royal Navy’s Nuclear submarine plants as the lead of class. As a site we have been involved in the trials, testing and data collection across all the reactor cores designed and developed for the Ministry of Defence.

What you’ll be doing
The Lab Technician will ideally have some hands on Laboratory Testing experience and will be
- Performing ongoing testing and maintenance
- Providing Radiochemistry analysis and reporting
- Supporting routine analysis of all site systems
- Assisting with producing COSHH assessments
- Supporting dangerous goods transport solutions
- Assisting in waste identification and disposal options
- Ensuring safe use and storage of chemicals on site

- Practical Laboratory Testing Experience
- Scientific/Engineering Qualification.
- An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
- Experience using Microsoft/Database Systems.
Shift working
Please note there will be occasional shift working expectations 2-3 times per year (dependant on customer expectations)
