Building Services Engineers at BAM are responsible for managing the design, procurement, installation and commissioning of the mechanical and electrical services on our projects. Think of it as being responsible for the heart and lungs of a building. An essential part of the job is to work out ways to lower carbon emissions, increase energy efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of the buildings.

Your mission

As a Building Services Engineer your key duties will include;

• Planning, designing, monitoring and inspecting systems
• Advising clients and architects on matters relating to building services
• Negotiating and developing project contracts and agreeing these with clients
• Liaising and co-ordinating with all parties associated with the construction process from design through to post-handover monitoring.
• Making life-cycle decisions about existing systems equipment and the appropriate location of new equipment
• Managing ‘Building Information Modelling’ (BIM) including the production of 3D designs and including non-graphical information to assist building owners and operators.
• Managing and forecasting spending and ensuring that work is completed within budget
• Designing site-specific equipment as required
• Commissioning, organising and assessing the work of sub-contractors
• Monitoring building systems and processes
• Ensuring that the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements
• Meeting manufacturers of building services products to learn about the latest developments
• Assessing the life cycle of buildings and their component services to minimise resources consumed and the impact on the environment.

Who are we looking for

• Have a Building Services Degree/Electrical Engineering Degree.
• Live within the Midlands area or easily commutable distance
