    About our Water Business

    Our Water Business is continually in demand worldwide for projects involving flood resilience, water management and the enhancement of the environment. Our broad knowledge and experience enable us to find practical solutions for the most complex of problems, for example flood risk management against the backdrop of climate change and coastal erosion.

    Role Context

    The role will be to contribute to the development of engineering design solutions in steel, concrete, timber and other materials to relevant design codes using appropriate digital technology. You will work within a team where you will be expected to take on responsibility at an early stage. Your involvement in and contribution to the project team which may include other disciplines within the company will be actively encouraged. You may also be involved directly with individual clients with whom you are expected to promote a positive working relationship and be expected to plan your own time and assist the team leader and project managers in determining the resource requirements for your work.

    You will be in a position to plan your route and have the drive and enthusiasm to reach Chartered status

    What you will do as a Civil Engineer

    • Carrying out inspections and surveys.
    • Specification and management of 3rd parties undertaking specialist surveys and investigations.
    • Appraising the feasibility of alternative solutions.
    • Designing solutions to reduce flood risk, manage costal erosion and manage water, including appropriate calculations.
    • Contribute to the production of assessments, studies and reports.
    • Drafting and checking models and drawings.
    • Preparing Bills of Quantities, Contract Documents and Specifications.
    • Supervision of construction or investigations.
    • Contribute to the use of Digital technology to improve processes and efficiencies. and undertaking other tasks within the field of coastal and rivers engineering.
    • Contribute to the successful operation of the business.

    Where you will work

    You could join one of our regional teams in either Newcastle , Brighton or Peterborough. You will be part of the team delivering a range of a multidisciplinary projects. You will visit our project sites and clients offices and could be based at clients offices or sites for a period. Most of our projects are based in the UK but as international consultancy our projects could take you around the world.

    Profile

    • Enthusiasm about working in the Flood and Coastal Resilience.
    • A Masters degree in Civil Engineering ideally with modules covering water and coastal management.
    • Strong technical ability in analysis and design and a desire to extend this aspect in your career
    • Excellent numeracy.
    • Good team player to contribute to dynamic group.
    • Good communicator (Written and verbal).
    • Confident and motivated to succeed.
    • Keen to learn.
    • Interest in Digital Solutions, ideally with experience of using 3D CAD models, GIS and programming.
    • Commercially aware.
