    The role

    We are inviting applications from newly qualified nurses and experienced band 5 nurses who are looking for a new challenge and career development. This is an exciting new role which will see you flourish, learn new skills and develop your talents to help you progress in your nursing career. Furthermore, if you are already an employee at the Trust, you can use the internal transfer process to join the rotation.

    Main duties

    Our Choose Your Own Rotation is a flexible programme. You will be given the opportunity to choose the three areas you want to gain experience in. This may include a role within medicine, surgery or even with one of our external partner - you could gain experience as a practice nurse at a GP surgery or choose to follow a patients' journey at Sulis Hospital. The choice is yours.

    During each placement you will spend six months learning from professional clinicians and deliver care to people from all walks of life. You'll see life from new angles and accelerate your learning, helping you gain a broad range of new clinical skills.

    By the end of the 18 month Choose Your Own Rotation you will have:

    • A strong skills set in nursing
    • Confidence and competence in different areas
    • Become a flexible and dynamic nurse - a great quality to have for future roles
    • Resilience and gained new leadership skills
    • The opportunity to make a change of direction in your nursing role
    • Future career options in front of you

    You will be joining our community at Team RUH and be supported through the rotation by our Talent Manager. At the end of the rotation you can choose the area that you want to pursue a career in. Subject to vacancy and suitability, you will be able to join a team as a band 5 nurse on a permanent post.

    About you

    Essential

    • Up to date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice either at the level of a newly qualified nurse or as a more experienced nurse.

    Desirable

    • Understanding of equality & diversity and how to apply it to self and others.
    • Understanding of NMC Code of Practice and requirements of it for own practice & behaviour.
