What does our Private Equity Coverage and Deal Origination (CAO) team do?

The Deal Origination team is a specialist business development function within RSM’s Corporate Finance department that supports the identification and generation of new business opportunities for the firm. The core responsibility is to identify privately owned businesses that have the potential to be a future M&A client of the firm. The Deal Origination team uses a thematic approach to assessing potential targets and is responsible for approaching and building relationships with prospects. The main objective is to grow RSM’s client base by building and maintaining relationships with senior decision-makers. We are a small, relationship-driven team and you will be exposed to senior colleagues, a varied workload and a high level of responsibility.

    What can you expect?

You will be working closely with the wider Deal Origination team and you will provide research, analysis and support to the team and its strategy.

    Key responsibilities

    • Identification of prospective M&A deal clients through analysing historical financial information and sectortrends
    • Preparation of documentation including company profiles, sector insight summaries and marketing materials
    • Support team members with client/target meeting preparation and taking meeting minutes
    • Manage and track opportunities pipeline using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software

    What we look for

We’re on the lookout for organised graduates with a ‘can-do’ attitude who are prepared to work hard and take on high levels of responsibility. We also look for team players who enjoy interacting with others and are curious about how businesses work. You’ll be working on multiple projects at the same time, so time management and organisational skills are key. Confidence with numbers and business awareness is a must, but you’ll also need excellent communication skills and be able to forge strong working relationships with people from all backgrounds. Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential.

If that sounds like you, we know you’ll enjoy being part of our team.
