RSPCA has an opening for a full time Vet Nurse to join the Clinic in Merthyr Tydfil, which will include assisting with nursing, anaesthetics and reception duties. The Vet Nurse role will be working alongside one other support Vet Nurse in administering treatments and triaging patients for the Vet Surgeons.
One of the great things about this role will be the great hours it offers, 08:30 am start to 16:30 pm finish, offering a good work-life balance, we are also open to discussion around flexibility.
About Merthyr Tydfil
The Merthyr Tydfil Animal Clinic at The Willows in Abercanaid, Merthyr Tydfil, opened in October 2005.
We provide an extensive range of veterinary services, including consultations, operations, dentistry, neutering, radiography, and microchipping. Our friendly team of staff provide expert nursing and veterinary care.
The vet works alongside five support staff including qualified vet nurses, to provide care for patients who have to be admitted to the clinic.
What's involved?
- Direct medical and surgical patient care
- Triage patients for the attention of the Vet Surgeon
- Maintain up to date and accurate clinical records
- Dispense drugs in accordance with guidelines & clinic rules
- Cleaning and maintenance of all surgical areas, wards, theatres and x-ray rooms
- Cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment and machinery (eg radiography, endoscopy and dental) and sterilisation of surgical instruments
- Check machinery and other equipment as part of pre-ops and provide assistance to the Vet during surgeries
- Ensure that all clients of the clinic receive accurate itemised bills at the time of treatment and keep full records of these
- Undertake ongoing professional and personal development connected with the role

- Either a Level 3 Diploma in Vet Nursing or a Degree in Vet Nursing
- Registration with the RCVS
