    About the role

    On the Sainsbury’s Analytics Internship, as part of your degree you’ll spend a year in one of the analytics divisions across our business. This could be: Marketing, Digital, Tech, Finance, Retail and Commercial Operations.

    Across the year you will

    • Use tools such as R, Python, SAS, MicroStrategy, Unica, Snowflake, AWS to access and interrogate our data to solve problems
    • Build a business understanding and develop judgement and communication skills to share work in a way that will ensure it has an impact on the business
    • Carry out analysis and reporting, and more advanced analytical problems too
    • Develop an analytical mind-set required to produce actionable insight
    • Experience working in a team
    • Work collaboratively with other teams in the business, and contribute to strategic discussions and planning meetings
    • Practice and grow at presenting your work to others
    • Become an excellent communicator with the ability to explain complex problems to an unfamiliar audience
    • Gain knowledge of database structures and relational databases

    What we're looking for

    • A broad numerical background; you will currently be reading a degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or similar 
    • The desire and potential to develop technical skills in analytics, data & science 
    • Teamwork and collaboration skills are essential  
    • While it's not essential, any experience of any form of coding would be beneficial
    • Excellent communication skills and able to present to a range of stakeholders
    • Time management and organisational skills
    • An ability to translate academic thinking and skills to real world scenarios and quickly develop the understanding and ability to manipulate large and disparate datasets
    • The desire and aptitude to learn new programming languages and software to a sophisticated level, building your skillset as an analyst to be able to process complex data efficiently and accurately
    • An ability to take ownership of, understand and maintain multiple day to day processes within the team whilst maintaining good attention to detail.
