    Our Retail Banking graduate programme will give you the opportunity to build knowledge and experience across our core Retail business lines (Personal Banking, Businesses Banking, Wealth Management and Insurance and Mortgages), specialist areas (Risk Management, Strategy & Transformation, Marketing, Operations) and channels (Digital, Contact Centres and Branch Network).

    You’ll be joining at a time of profound transformation across the Retail Banking sector. Customer needs are becoming more sophisticated and digital-first, high quality personalised service is more important than ever, and product innovation is essential to remain a top player in the industry. For this reason, curiosity, agility, digital acumen, and most importantly an appetite to learn are some of the key skills we are after.

    What you'll be doing

    Our scheme is about giving you exposure to industry leaders, tools and learning experiences to build a successful career path at Santander. Through a series of four placements across 27 months, you will have the opportunity to work across different teams in our business lines, specialist areas or channels to learn about retail banking and how a market leading, global organisation operates.

    You'll start your journey in one of our nationwide branches, to gain first-hand insight on how we provide our customers with excellent services. Alongside this you’ll be working on a key project for the division. The next three placements will be focused on different areas within Head Office. This could mean working on innovative projects in the Digital team, supporting the design of new product propositions, analysing customer insights and data, launching successful marketing campaigns, or helping us keep the bank and customers safe with strong corporate governance and risk management. There are so many exciting areas to explore and contribute to from day one.

    Where you’ll work

    For your first placement you’ll spend the majority of your time in one of our nationwide branches, directly in touch with customers. After six months, in your next placements you'll split your time between our brand new head office site in Milton Keynes and virtual home working. You’ll have flexibility to work out of the office and at home, spending 40% of your time in the office working with colleagues as a minimum.

    What we’re looking for in you

    • A bachelors degree in any discipline, as well as 112 UCAS points (top 3 A Level grades or equivalent excluding General Studies and Extended Project)
