The position
An exciting opening has arisen for a Graduate Environmental Technician to join our team, based at our SARVAL Ltd, Hartshill site with the requirement to visit other sites within the UK. As a Graduate Environmental Technician, your duties and responsibilities will vary on the Company’s requirements but will include the following:
- Site visits to UK facilities.
- Identifying, assessing, and succinctly communicating environmental risks, compliance requirements and status, and performance improvement opportunities.
- Liaison with external agencies and governing bodies regarding the company’s environmental performance, targets and improvements.
- Keeping abreast of the latest developments, regulations, and standards in environmental management and assessment, and effectively communicating these to our wider team.
- Supporting key investment projects with regards to environmental impacts and considerations.
- Liaise with key contacts within the business to ensure transparency and communication of data and information pertaining to environment and sustainability.
- Supporting the development of, and maintaining, trusted relationships with our stakeholders.
- Maintain and provide all KPI data in relation to environment and sustainability.
The person
- Minimum undergraduate degree in Environmental studies or relevant subject.
- Knowledge of UK and European environmental legislation, and the potential for environmental impacts at our facilities.
- Proficient in identifying environmental risks and liabilities and putting these into context.
- Excellent report writing skills, including the ability to present technical findings, risks, and recommendations succinctly and clearly.
- Project or task management experience, including experience of working to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Experience of, and enthusiasm for, working as part of a team and playing a key role to collectively meet objectives and targets.
- Investigative mindset with a desire to analyse and understand a situation and develop appropriate improvement or mitigation recommendations.
- Dependable, self-aware and a good communicator.
- Conscientious and ability to respond to challenges creatively.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
