    Seagate is the worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of hard disc drives, providing products for a wide range of Enterprise, Desktop, Mobile Computing, and Consumer Electronics applications for storage of video, music and documents.

    The Equipment Engineering group are responsible for the performance of all the machines used in the complex manufacturing process of thin film magnetic heads. We support the machines through their life cycle from installation to de-installation. The role requires skills in electro-mechanical disciplines, with a bias to computer and software skills being preferable.
    We have some exciting opportunities in the Equipment Engineering Dept for high caliber student, in a paid internship commencing in Sep 2023. To be suitable for the role, you will currently be studying a Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic or Chemical Engineering related degree programme or just recently graduated within 1 year.

    About the role you will

    The successful student will be working on leading edge Nano-Technology machines used in the production of ‘Thin Film’ magnetic read-write heads, used in data storage devices. The performance of these complex state of the art electro-mechanical systems is critical; so, you will liaise and assist engineers in continuous improvement projects that will improve cost efficiency, process control and production throughput by driving advancements in machine capability and reliability. The role requires good problem-solving and communication skills, and it will be an opportunity to develop your organisational skills as you interact with technical staff in other departments.

    Intern placement dates are – starting Monday, 4th September 2023, finishing 23rd August 2024

    Day to Day

    • Analysis of equipment performance data and take necessary actions
    • Development and Automation of KPIV control strategies
    • Assist in planning and co-ordination of equipment installation and EHS requirements
    • Identify equipment throughput and yield performance issues

    About you

    • You will currently be studying a Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic or Chemical Engineering related degree programme, or graduated within 1 year
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills and desire to work in high tech manufacturing environment
