The Facilities engineering team have responsibility for services that support a high tech 24/7 manufacturing environment. The manufacturing cleanrooms & equipment, utilise facilities (chilled water, heating and ventilation systems, compressed air, vacuum, and exhaust) system. These systems must be operated and maintained to the required specifications and health and safety standards to enable the manufacture of leading-edge technology nanoscale, magnetic recording heads for data storage applications to be produced.
We have an opportunity for an undergraduate placement to support the current resident Systems Engineer by working within our water supply and treatments systems, that generate and deliver Ultrapure water for wafer processing and resulting waste-water treatment streams and associated chemicals, to ensure optimum performance and compliance.
About the role
Assisting with:
- The management and maintenance of our ultrapure water & wastewater treatment plants
- Ensuring water quality, standards and legislation requirements are met for open and closed water systems.
- The management of key water and chemical treatment programmes & KPIs (e.g., Legionella, Trade Effluent Discharges, Chemical Inventory, etc...)
- Raising the level of Engineer, Technician & Contractor knowledge in the operation, control, and compliance of systems and programmes
Main Duties
- Support in the optimisation of chemical usage in the wastewater treatment plants.
- Troubleshoot and Diagnose systems issues.
- Improve plant efficiencies and treatment processes through data analysis of plant performance.
- Assist in development of plant operating manuals, work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Provide support in the preparation of training, audits, and risk assessments.
- Provide support on water and wastewater treatment projects.
About you
Eligibility & Qualifications
- Currently studying 3rd level honours degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering that requires Industrial placement.
Be available to start your internship on 2nd September 2024 and finish on 22nd August 2024
