The Seagate legal group (Seagate Legal Group) is seeking a currently enrolled, undergraduate law student for a 10–12-week summer internship, ideally located in our Springtown facility in Derry, Northern Ireland. Also willing to consider someone located in our offices in Schiphol-Rijk, Amsterdam or alternatively, or someone fully remote, based in Northern Ireland, Ireland, UK or Amsterdam.

About the role 

  • Be exposed to a wide range of legal disciplines by assisting with various corporate and compliance-related projects, with primary focus being on compliance and ethics, data privacy and related contracts (as required).
  • Assist members of the various legal departments with other projects, as required, in our Contracts, Intellectual Property, Employment, Corporate Governance and Litigation Groups.
  • Conduct legal research, draft memoranda and present conclusions on questions presented by lawyers, including identifying and researching specific areas of current and emerging legislation that may directly impact Seagate and present findings to the wider Seagate Legal Group.
  • Assist in the analysis of new business products, services, strategies, and initiatives.
  • Develop positive working relationships with internal business stakeholders and the wider Seagate Legal Group.
  • Embed Seagate’s core values of Integrity, Innovation and Inclusion in all work undertaken as part of the internship.

About you

  • Enrolment in a bachelor’s degree required; currently enrolled first and second year law students are preferred.
  • Must have interest in technology and in-house legal work.
  • Possess a basic knowledge and understanding of legal documents.

Must be

  • Willing to learn;
  • Efficient and detail-oriented;
  • Enthusiastic; and
  • Able to adapt to an agile working environment.

Your experience includes

  • Must be a rising legal undergraduate, currently enrolled, and ideally in first or second year of university.
  • Completed applications should be submitted no later than midnight on 3rd January 2024

This is a Full-Time position working five days a week (Monday-Friday 9pm-5pm).

The hours are subject to change with or without notice at the sole discretion of Seagate. This will be a 10–12-week program (depending on your availability), with a tentative start date of early June 2024.
