Serco is a FTSE 250 company with over 400 sites and 30,000 people in the UK alone. We rely on the support of our Corporate Functions to keep the business running smoothly and efficiently. The Finance Graduate Programme will see you become part of one of our core teams – rotating around the key functions to help you understand the people, systems, skills and processes it takes to manage them.
The role
As part of the Finance programme, you will have the opportunity to build your ambition to “make a difference” and be integral in our vision to be a trusted partner of governments, delivering superb public services, that transform outcomes and make a positive difference for our fellow citizens. Using your natural curiosity, commercial mind-set and passionate interest in the world’s people, politics, and services, you will be continually striving to improve the way we manage our business, support our stakeholders, and deliver innovation to our support services.
Our Finance programme is designed for those looking to gain a career within Finance and gain broad exposure within the internal Finance function of a complex business. During the programme, you will rotate across three different departments on one-year placements including Group Finance, Internal Audit and Leisure Finance. The placement with Leisure Finance is at our Leicester base and you will be required to attend the office 3 days per week. Travel and accommodation for this placement will be expensed for those who don’t live within commutable distance.
On completion of the Finance programme, you will come away with a Chartered Institute of Management Accountant (CIMA) accountancy qualification and a wealth of knowledge that will set you up for a career in Finance. You will also be able to progress into a position within Serco amongst one of the finance functional areas or elsewhere within the wider business. Whilst a position isn’t guaranteed, there is rapid career progression, and within previous cohorts we have seen a 100% success rate into permanent positions within Serco.
