    In support of the Scottish Government’s Young Person’s Guarantee, alongside more than 80 other Scottish employers, we are recruiting for a number of Internships in areas such as project management, IT, Service Design and Skills Planning to name a few.     On a 12-month fixed term contract and employed as an Intern at SDS, you’ll have the opportunity to make a contribution to the work of SDS, learning and expanding your skills and gaining new experiences to kick start your career in Research Analysis.

    Our programme is designed to provide you with the opportunity to apply and build on the knowledge and skills you gained at university and get your graduate career off to a perfect start. From your first day you’ll be an integral part of the team you join.

    Job overview

    This is an exciting opportunity to gain skills and experience working alongside talented colleagues in our Service Design and Innovation Directorate (SD&I). This Directorate supports SDS to design and develop products and services and to solve complex problems using innovative development approaches.

    You’ll co-ordinate and support a range of analytical activity, this will involve responsibility for research, data analysis, report writing and preparing and developing presentations for internal and external use.

    The post holder will gain experience working with colleagues to support the Director of Service Design and Innovation and Heads of Service to design, develop and deliver a range of work-based learning activities.

    On a 12-month fixed term contract you can be located at any of our SDS offices. However, regular travel to our Glasgow offices will be required to meet with colleagues and attend training and events.

    We are in the pilot phase of our hybrid working approach and currently expect colleagues to be in an SDS office 2 days per week, with the remainder of time at home or at another SDS recognised workplace.

    Qualities

    It is essential that you’re educated to degree level (SCQF level 9) in social or behavioural sciences.  You’ll have experience of working as part of a team to deliver projects and of gathering, managing and synthesising research and experience of a range of methodologies for analysis including qualitative and quantitative.

    You'll have good analytical skills with the ability to absorb large volumes of information quickly and translate into insights.  You'll be able to interpret and synthesis information to inform decision making, to reach conclusions and use good communication skills to present them clearly and accurately to others.  A collaborative team player, you'll be detail orientated and bring a logical and pragmatic approach to problem solving.

    Age

    In order to support the government’s initiative on youth employment, candidates must be aged 24 or younger on 3rd October 2022. However, SDS will be flexible on age criteria for applicants who identify as care experienced or disabled; in which case candidates must be 29 or younger on 3rd October 2022.
