Somerset Bridge Limited are seeking Graduate Data Scientists to join the Statistics & Actuarial team based in north Bristol. The team uses cutting-edge methods to develop models for the group which requires the support of additional data scientists, including analysis and use of machine learning and statistical techniques to refine models of insurance fraud, insurance pricing, claims analysis and targeted marketing.
Successful candidates will have the enthusiasm and ability to work in a dynamic environment and push themselves to become independent problem solvers. They will have a desire to develop programming languages and to use statistics and machine learning in a supportive and innovative environment working alongside experienced data scientists and actuaries. Full training is provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Working within a team across a range of projects
- Working with data applying machine learning and statistics to business problems
- Suggesting and investigating new initiatives
- Exploring unstructured datasets
- Performing ad-hoc analyses and investigations supporting the business
- Identifying new data sources suitable for analysis and implementation
- Supporting deployment of automation throughout the business
Desirable skills/experience (not all required)
- A/A* Maths A-Level
- Numerate or computer science degree (or higher)
- Programming experience (R/Python)
- Statistical modelling
- Using datasets
- Applied machine learning
