Black Butter Records is a joint venture between Henry Village, Joe Gossa and Sony Music Entertainment. Originally formed in 2010 and quickly earning its stripes as one of the most exciting labels in the country, Black Butter has launched the careers of Rudimental, Jessie Ware, Gorgon City and Jess Glynne. The label is home to some of the most exciting new talent including J Hus, Young T & Bugsey, Zara Larsson and Bakar. The Managing Director of Black Butter Records is Duncan Scott.
The Role
You will be the support system for the marketing team at Black Butter, an extra set of eyes across all the campaigns. This is a real hands-on role, you will need to roll up your sleeves, hit the ground running and take initiative and take ownership of your remit. You will need to have a natural passion for music!
The Team
The label began life as an indie label and although it is now a joint venture with Sony Music, the independent spirit still lives on in the culture of the label. The label is known for working with artists that are ahead of the curve and have massively influenced the UK music scene.
We are a relatively small team with only 19 people and we have a varied roster of 13 UK acts and 23 international acts. We are very sociable, open and collaborative so this is a great opportunity to learn by getting involved with the wide range of artists across the label.
What you’ll do
- To provide administrative support to a team of marketing professionals, correspondence, promo stock, answering general enquiries, ticket ordering etc.
- Work closely with the finance team when booking and overseeing payment runs
- Booking travel with our travel reps, cars & couriers.
- Creating label meeting packs – keeping track of analytic data for each campaign and understanding the materials.
- Be an ‘ambassador’ for the label. General communication with artists, artist managers, third-party suppliers and other areas of the business to find out about new releases, new signings, remixes etc..
- Creating Purchase Orders for all marketing related invoices and ensuring these are assigned to the correct project and accounted for in the related budget.
- Ensuring that all artwork/production deadlines are met and copy is correct.
- Taking minutes and isolating action points in department meetings.
- Assist Marketing Managers with artist events, showcases, video shoots and photo shoots
- Suggesting concepts and ideas, inputting into creative meetings, and the general creative process
Who you are
- Proficient in Excel and other Word applications.
- Knowledge of the Black Butter current roster and historical releases
- A passion for new music and thirst for knowledge about record labels and the UK music industry
- Someone who is creative and has ideas
- You should be organised and able to prioritise your workload
- A strong communicator to interact with different departments and external people
- A clear thinker and can show initiative whilst multi-tasking
- This role will really suit someone who is a genuine fan of the Black Butter Roster

- We do not require you to have a degree or qualification in order to apply for this internship but you do need to be over 18+.
