With streaming revenues now accounting for a large portion of overall UK record company revenues, the Digital Partnerships department is integral to Sony Music UK’s operations and to the success of our artists. Working closely with our labels and key digital accounts such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music & YouTube, the Digital Partnerships team ensure that Sony Music’s artists and releases have high visibility across streaming and download services in turn driving engagement with fans.
The Role
This year long industry placement scheme is developed to provide an in-depth appreciation of the Digital Partnerships team within Sony Music UK and their dealings with digital partners as well as an overall insight into the way in which a record label works on a day-to-day basis. The Intern will be accountable for administration and co-ordination within the Digital Partnerships team, providing vital backing to the account management team. They will establish themselves as a point of contact for any queries relating to these areas by forging strong relationships with the labels, the wider business and with external contacts.
The Team
The Digital Partnerships team is a central division, working with all of Sony Music’s labels and across the full artist roster. Over the last several years, the team has grown in line with the importance of DSPs to Sony Music’s business and there are now 11 team members, including the Digital Partnerships Intern.
What you’ll do
Working across Sony Music’s full artist roster and with a broad range of digital partners (Digital Streaming Platforms / DSPs), the Digital Partnerships Intern will be accountable for supporting the UK Digital Partnerships team, with tasks including:
- Regular contact with frontline labels, dealing with streaming/download queries
- Upkeep and distribution of Sony Music’s central digital release schedule, ensuring that all DSPs receive key release information
- Ensure that all DSPs are regularly serviced with pre-release music and assets for all forthcoming releases
- Upkeep of sales forecasting reports
- Regular research into the singles market and competitor releases in order to ensure that Sony’s “Singles Planner” reports contain the most up-to-date information
- Regular exploration of DSP promotions
- Upkeep of playlists for Sony’s proprietary playlist brand ‘Filtr’ across Apple Music
- As the role develops, there may be the opportunity to take on account management assignments of some smaller DSPs.

- You will be able to manage your time and prioritise tasks effectively to successfully fulfil your responsibilities.
- You have excellent attention to detail and time management skills
- You have strong interactive and communication skills as you will need to quickly build relationships with multiple stakeholders within the business.

- We do not require you to have a degree or qualification in order to apply for this internship but you do need to be over 18+.
