Sony Global Treasury Services (SGTS) is a highly complex organisation, operating very closely with Sony Group Corporation Finance department. It is one of the largest Corporate Treasuries in the world, with subsidiary Thailand. SGTS is also a level 1 company in terms of Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), as well as being one of only a handful of Sony subsidiaries which is audited quarterly. Due to the complexities involved, the scope of audit is considerably more than a standard Sony Sales Company.
SGTS is a key subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation (SGC), which is listed on the New York stock exchange (as well as the Nikkei stock exchange). Hence, the group is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
SGTS Accounting is the HQ Accounting function and is a key department within SGTS responsible for the global consolidated financial numbers. It is governed by several sets of regulations and is accountable to and audited by several different stakeholders
Job purpose
To support Accounting team and operations to ensure all month-end deadlines are met. This includes but is not limited to accurate monthly reporting to Sony Group Corporation, accurate annual reporting of SGTS’ local statutory accounts and to ensure these are reported within the relevant accounting standards
Support in the transition of accounting activities from Business Process Owner back to Sony in Weybridge in United Kingdom.
Key responsibilities
- Perform payment runs and settlement clearing for all inter-company transactions; this includes matching the payment with correct settlement
- Perform intercompany reconciliations for all re-invoicing customers
- Perform journal processing and understanding the double accounting entry principle
- Performing monthly reconciliations (including analytical review) of core balance sheet accounts, this includes reconciliations between Treasury system and SAP reporting system
- Posting all accounts payable invoices received through electronic platforms/and other platforms timeously and accurately
- Follow policies, procedures and complying with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements
- Providing support in the accounting and other treasury related activities, this includes collaboration with other departments within SGTS
- Support in key projects, streamlining and automation of processes in continually adding value to the business

Requirements
- Graduate in Finance/Accounting orientated degree from a reputable University
- Have a good understanding of accounting transactions, double entry bookkeeping and reconciliations
- Knowledge of Microsoft excel (including working knowledge of filters, pivot tables, vlookups, macros etc)
- Enthusiastic, proactive, and motivated. Personable with excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
- Good organisation skills with a diligent and committed attitude
- Effective time management with the ability to work well under pressure - both individually and within a team environment
