About the role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our sustainability and consulting practice. We are hiring consultants to support the company’s ambition to put ethics and social impact at the centre of everything we do by working with the Sustainability to grow the consulting pipeline and deliver client projects. Sopra Steria’s Sustainability, Digital Ethics & Social Impact Consulting Practice helps clients in the public and private sectors become more sustainable, responsible, and use technology and business to create a positive social impact. You will join the Practice at an exceptionally exciting time as we build on the success of the launch of our digital ethics consulting capability, our leading work will deliver social value to clients, and Sopra Steria’s excellent track record as a sustainable business.
As a Sustainability, Digital Ethics and Social Impact Consultant, you will shape and deliver sustainability, digital ethics and social impact engagements with clients. With the growing corporate emphasis on sustainability and Net Zero, the Government’s Social Value agenda is in sharp focus, and the deepening understanding of the importance of ethical approaches to digital technology and data, your work will contribute to a key source of Sopra Steria’s competitive advantage. You will also help us to innovate in this space, finding new ways to bring together business and technology for sustainability, digital ethics and social impact in new value propositions.
This is a truly exciting opportunity to play an instrumental role in shaping and growing an important part of our business. You will work across all of our sectors and contribute to the design of client programmes, support the delivery of client work and support positive client relationships. You will provide input into the Practice’s strategy and development of future capability; support the development of partnerships. In this you will be fully supported by senior consultants with years of practice and training in the field.
The role will be home-based or hybrid, depending on your location. There will be the requirement to travel within this role, which will depend on the client’s requirements. We can offer great career progression opportunities, flexible working and benefits which you can flex to meet your needs.
What you will be doing
- Deliver client projects, supporting senior consultants throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring high quality, timely delivery
- Contribute to the development of the Sustainability, Digital Ethics and Social Impact opportunity pipelines by working with senior consultants to engage strategic
- proposition owners, key account leads and executive client directors, and supporting the development of positive client relationships
- Support the development of client projects from early conversation stage through to sale, both in large strategic deals involving bid support, and stand-alone consulting engagements with support and guidance from senior consultants, engage internal partners throughout the bid process, gaining consensus for proposed solutions
- Continually develop and share Sustainability, Digital Ethics and Social Impact expertise by keeping abreast of relevant trends, drivers, standards, regulations and organisations; use this expertise to continually support the practice’s development of consulting tools and methodologies
- Use Sustainability, Digital Ethics and Social Impact trends, topics of interest and sector drivers to develop thought leadership and marketing content
- Support the preparation of bids for Sustainability, Digital Ethics and Social Impact business, working with senior consultants to ensure a solid understanding of client drivers and needs in order to create a compelling tailored solution
- Provide project management and knowledge management support to ensure the team is organised, can effectively respond to opportunities and successfully deliver customer engagements
- Champion the business importance of an ethical approach to creating, implementing, procuring and managing technology inside and outside of Sopra Steria
- Champion the practice inside and outside Sopra Steria through active collaboration with team members, and promotion of the company’s work on social media and other external channels
- Positively support other team members
- Demonstrate our team and things we value, including by supporting initiatives, such as the Tech for Good Community programme, and by collaborating pro-actively with other teams
- Timely delivery of assignments, whilst ensuring client satisfaction is achieved, both internal and external
- Participation in the Tech for Good Community programme (e.g. via charitable/community volunteering in pivotal initiatives)
What you’ll bring
- A basic understanding of and passion for environmental sustainability and the role technology plays in improving it
- Experience working with social impact in the public and/or private sectors
- An understanding of the business drivers, standards and key concepts in some or all of these areas
- Knowledge of sustainability, digital ethics and social value regulation or standards
- Agile project management qualification
- experience ideally in a business environment
- Carrying out research and applying critical analysis to topics within business or technology
- Effectively collaborating and team working
- Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
- Good organisation/project management skills
- Strong presentation skills and able to connect with a wide range of stakeholders

- Experience working with clients (internal or external) to understand their needs and support the development of solutions
