We are seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to join The Keys, a team within Financial Data Engineering at Spotify. Our team plays a pivotal role in generating trusted user and financial metrics—some of the most critical metrics at Spotify—used for strategic decision-making, supporting global growth initiatives, and essential internal and external reporting.
As Spotify expands into new areas like podcasts and audiobooks, agility in creating high-quality metrics—and ensuring seamless discovery and consumption of those metrics—has become even more essential. As a Data Engineer, you will design and maintain data solutions that generate trusted user and financial metrics, such as subscribers, active users, P&L, and revenue metrics. Your work on this team will directly influence how we report on Spotify's growth and revenue ecosystem, driving strategic insights across the organization.
What youll do
- Drive a deep understanding of how user and financial metrics are utilized across different user groups
- Lead data modeling efforts with a data-as-a-product approach, expanding our current metrics to meet evolving business requirements
- Design, develop, and test robust data pipelines capable of processing billions of data points, using ground breaking data processing frameworks, technologies, and platforms
- Enhance data quality through testing, tooling, and continuous performance evaluation
- Collaborate with software engineers, data analysts, data scientists, and key partners to build solutions and uncover valuable insights
- Work within a cross-functional agile team, taking end-to-end ownership of product development and delivery within your mission
Who you are
- You are experienced as a Data Engineer, using Scala. Experience with Java and Python is a plus
- You are well-versed with data processing frameworks, such as Scio, Spark, DataFlow, Beam, Kafka, Hadoop, or equivalent
- You are knowledgeable in cloud-based environments, preferably with an understanding of Google Cloud Platform
- You are comfortable working with large datasets using SQL and data analytics platforms such as BigQuery
- You possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with written and verbal communication skills
- You know how to design complex systems (like RFC, ADR, C4, DDD, UML)
- If you have experience with data dashboarding tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) or developing native React-based data visualization UIs, that would be a bonus!

- This role is based in Stockholm or London.
