    Our Transmission Offshore Delivery Marine summer placement provides real hands-on experience through a 12 week placement. This team are responsible for the development and delivery of the transmission link projects to connect each of Scotland’s major island groups - Shetland, Orkney and the Western Isles - and the delivery element of the East Coast High-voltage direct current (HVDC) projects.

    The Marine Function was established to provide multidisciplinary technical expertise across the SSEN Transmission functions and portfolio of projects. Given the level of technical expertise contained within the Marine Function covering Marine Safety, Construction, Installation Engineering, Marine Management, Survey (Geophysical and Geotechnical) and Marine Consenting, we provide support across all directorates within the Transmission business unit and in doing so, establishing ourselves as a competent offshore operator within the Energy Sector.

    Throughout the placement, you will have the support of a business mentor and buddy, who will provide guidance and support to enable you to reach your full potential.

    Our summer placement students work collaboratively in a variety of contexts, while also taking ownership of their role by working under their own direction to drive action forward. There will also be networking and presentation opportunities, specialist sessions and support from our graduates.

    What do I need?

    We have opportunities for those studying degrees inclusive of; Hydrographic Surveying and Geotechnical, Nautical College, Subsea Engineering, Construction Management, Naval Architecture.

    We'd love you to have some practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for the energy sector, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You'll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges and should have a genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long-term future with us.
