    We have an exciting opportunity for an Actuarial Specialist to join our Research & Development Division on permanent basis. Our Research & Development team focus on new product development and pricing, changes to existing products, strategic projects, providing tools to support growth in new business, provide commercial actuarial advice and support across the St. James’s Place community.

    Who we are looking for

    You will be highly analytical, with excellent written and verbal communications skills, a passion for numbers and dedication to make things happen. High attention to detail with the ability to spot anomalies and trends with ease. You will also enjoy working with people, solving their queries and feel confident in challenging the status quo. We would also value the ability to comprehend various concepts.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide technical support on products, illustrations, internal replacement, charges and other calculations to various collaborators including the Partnership, third-party administrators and other departments.
    • Assist with various projects across the business, providing actuarial expertise and skills by supporting actuaries within the team who may be leading larger projects or workstreams. Examples include product pricing, Annual Wealth Account reporting and Implementation of enhancements to our investment propositions.
    • Provide figures and analysis to support business decisions.
    • Maintain documentation and our suite of tools to auditable standards.
    • Ensure the accuracy of Illustrations, terms and conditions and product documentation.
    • Provide guidance and support to junior actuarial analysts.
    • Conduct all activities with Integrity and professionalism In line with our values and principles of treating our clients, Partners and shareholders fairly.
    • Continue steady progress through the actuarial exams with the aim of qualifying as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

    Special requirements

    • Part-qualified to Core Principle Level: Ideally CM/CS/CB exams passed, but we have flexibility for exam progress depending on practical experience
    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
    • Experience in Microsoft Office suite

    Desirable requirements:

    • Experience in the UK Financial Services market and regulations
    • Degree or equivalent experience in a numerate or analytical subject e.g. Maths, Economics, Engineering, Physics, Actuarial Science, preferably grade 2:1 or above.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
