    The role

    St Leger Homes is an award-winning, customer focused social housing provider that manages almost 20,000 homes on behalf of City of Doncaster Council and an exciting opportunity has arisen within our Commercial Team for a Quantity Surveyor Student Placement.

    Starting in September 2024 and reporting to the Quantity Surveyor the postholder will work as part of a professional, multi-disciplinary team that provide the commercial management and support on a range of contracts that will aid the efficient and successful delivery of multi-million pound construction, refurbishment and maintenance works undertaken by St Leger Homes and its contractors.

    The post-holder will demonstrate and exercise their Quantity Surveying knowledge and gain practical experience in the field by undertaking a range of duties that will include assisting in producing cost plans, assessing valuations, agreeing final accounts, and resolving variations, ensuring that completed works demonstrate value for money. The workload is varied, and you can be confident that there will not be a dull moment!

    In addition, the post offers the opportunity to play a role in the pre-works/construction process that will ultimately influence the planning and design of multi-million pounds worth of capital improvement works that play a big part in improving the city of Doncaster and its neighbourhoods.

    Candidate requirements

    The post requires a dedicated person who is currently studying to achieve a level 6 qualification in Quantity Surveying.

    As a hardworking, motivated, individual with the ability to remain calm and clear-thinking when under pressure, the post holder will require excellent organisational skills including the ability to plan and prioritise workload in order to meet targets, timescales and deadlines in a sometimes pressured environment.

    The successful applicant for the role must be disciplined, IT literate, flexible, possess technical knowledge and have the ability to appreciate the bigger picture.
