We're looking for a fast-learning and highly numerate Finance Assistant to join our growing finance team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations at SunGod, reporting directly to the Financial Accountant. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in accounts/bookkeeping and a drive to contribute their skills to a dynamic business with exciting plans ahead.

    Key responsibilities

    • Carry out all day-to-day tasks related to accounts receivable and payable, including maintaining updated records of invoices and receipts.
    • Reconciliation of bank and credit card statements.
    • Reconciliation of all receivables (debtors) and payables (creditors).
    • Sending out monthly statements to debtors
    • Assist with processing payments within deadlines.
    • Ensure correct inputting of VAT.
    • Assist with completion of quarterly VAT returns and US Sales tax returns when applicable.
    • Support the Financial Accountant with the completion of the month-end process and the year-end audit, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Support the Finance team in any other tasks as required.
    • Ensure current processes are followed and develop and improve new processes.
    • Ultimately, you will ensure we process all financial transactions accurately and on time.
    • Understand SunGod’s triple bottom line of people, planet and profit, and incorporate this into your job role every day.

    Who are we looking for

    The ideal person has the following skills, experiences and competencies:

    • Understanding of basic accounting double-entry and accounting concepts
    • Experience using Xero/FreeAgent/Quickbooks or similar is a plus, although full training will be provided
    • A good understanding of UK VAT is required and an understanding of international VAT is desirable
    • Prior experience processing stock transactions or an understanding of accounting for stock is a plus
    • Strong numerical and problem-solving skills plus good attention to detail
    • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
    • Previous experience working in a retail/e-commerce company is desirable
    • Excellent Excel and/or Google Sheets skills
